This reminds me of a chessboard I made, probably back in 1972 when I was chess crazy because of the Fisher-Spassky world championship match.
I used corrugated cardboard, cut into squares and strips.
The light squares were just squares of cardboard, stacked several high for strength and glued together.
The dark squares where made up of strips the length of the square, and the height of the stacked dark squares, and glued together to make a rectangular prism the same size as a light square, but with the corrugations showing.
Then the whole thing was glued together and put into a plexiglass case which I fabricated.
I was proud of it at the time. I wish I still had it.
With our creativity, we can make something ordinary into a work of art and we do not even have to spend a lot. Paper and other kinds of paper products such as cardboard can be used in so many ways and that includes creating artwork with it.

Nowadays, we all have to chip in and do whatever it is that we can regarding waste management. From paper to plastic, now with e-recycling – we can definitely minimize the amount of trash being collected and dumped in landfills across the country.

Before, we only thought or used paper and plastic products as recyclables but now even our electronic gadgets and mobile phone can still serve a purpose and be recycled.
