It makes me happy to see a project to do with less-than-fantastic art school paintings once they’ve outgrown their novelty. In school I always tried to make small things while learning for this exact reason, but now I won’t see those big ugly canvasses as such a waste! Convert the painting into a reusable grocery bag by instructables user benjarific. The graphical quality completely changes once it’s on a bag, and somehow it comes to life again.

This post made me chuckle, because I had a similar idea. I have a huge 4 1/2′ x 9′ rolled up abstract painting on canvas (from one of my college painting classes also!) sitting in my studio waiting to be turned into beach bags or totes. It just seemed a waste to throw it out since I like the colors, but it wasn’t going to end up hanging in a gallery some day!
