Inspired by Jeff Keyzer, Gary Dion decided to build his own WiFi radio. He constructed it using an Asus WL-520gu wireless router, an old USB audio headset, and a bunch of spare parts from his junk pile. After following Jeff’s directions to get the basic radio working, he added some extra niceties such as an infrared remote. I’m particularly a fan of the metal case and big honkin’ VFD on the front!

Thanks, guys! It was a fun build!
Gary has spent some time talking about the display filter, so I’m sure he knows that, but I think using dark red filter gives that nice almost white color that you may find on hi-end stereo systems. And it blends well with the black case.
It was hard to find some parts, but these guys: http://www.intransittech.com/excess-inventory/ seems to have lots of old components reasonably priced.
