I love this sculpture, titled Biografías , by artist Alicia Martín using 5000 books, all biographies. It was on display recently in Córdoba, Spain.

Rather than face the stigma of burning the books the state finds offensive, they hit upon the wonderful idea of using them as raw materials for sculpture. In the end, the result is the same, the books are no longer readable.
