Richard2nd has put together a simple Instructable on building a digital pinhole camera. The comments mention that the sharper the edges on the pinhole, the greater the depth of field and the sharper the image.

Also, the size of your digital sensor will effect the apparent sharpness of the image. That’s why serious pinholers tend to use large format sheet film. So a full-frame sensor will make better pinhole images than a DX size sensor.
