French seams are a seaming technique that completely encases the raw edges of your fabric where pieces are joined, giving projects a clean, professional-looking finish that’s especially great for clothing and working with delicate materials. And, even though it looks like a high-end finishing technique, it’s actually very easy to do—as long as you’re just sewing in a straight line. (If you’re new to the technique, you can check out my Sewing 101: French Seams tutorial right here on CRAFT.) Alas, in the real world, most garments have curves and angles. So, what do you do when those pop up? You take your french seaming skills to the next level with this fantastic tutorial for sewing french seams on right angles from Jen at Grainline Studio!
Ready to give it a try? Cut a right angle in a piece of scrap fabric, then head on over to Grainline Studio to see how it’s done.
