New 3D Printers Unveiled Today at Maker Faire Bay Area

Maker Faire is always a great place for creators to launch their new 3D printer designs and this year is no different. Among the booths filled with printers, CNC machines, and other fabrication tools you will find the new machines that are pushing the technology forward.

Josef Prusa launched his new i3 Mk 2 earlier this week and brought it to Maker Faire as part of Microsoft’s booth (photo above). This is Jo’s first machine designed specifically for 1.75 filament and features an E3D V6 extruder. The print area is 31% larger than his previous machine and has a heated bed that compensates for cold corners, a common problem in other heated build plates.

Printrbot has been teasing their newest edition of their fan favorite Metal Simple for the last week. Today at Maker Faire, they have pulled back the curtain to reveal the Metal Simple 2016. The machine features a built-in LCD touchscreen for control and print preview. Files can be uploaded to the machine via onboard Wi-Fi or the built in SD card. A new board designed by the Synthetos team drives the printer at breakneck speeds.

SeeMeCNC brought 50 brand new Eris delta 3D printers to Maker Faire. The smallest printer in their line, the Eris, comes with a new calibration sensor that makes the out of box experience faster and easier than any other printer we have ever seen. Made from injection molded PC-ABS, the team showed the durability of the machine while finalizing the design by posting a video showing an Eris being knocked off a desk five times without any damage to the printer.
