Othermill Manufacturing Stays Close to Home

It takes a village to make the Othermill desktop CNC mill, but despite current trends offshore, that village is based in the San Francisco Bay Area instead of Chinese manufacturing hotbed Shenzhen.

Roughly 89% of desktop Othermill’s 227 parts are manufactured domestically in the U.S., and in this talk from Maker Faire Bay Area’s Center Stage, Other Machine Co. CEO and Co-Founder Danielle Applestone gives an inside look at the domestic manufacturing partners and processes that her company uses to keep Othermill’s origins close to the company’s San Francisco-based home.

In many ways, complimentary to the additive processes of desktop 3D printers, the Othermill can mill 2D and 3D objects from non-printable materials like wood, metal, and plastic using vector files, and can even be used to create custom circuit boards.
