Alt.CES: Dale Dougherty Gives Edu Conference Keynote

Dale Dougherty, MAKE Founder and Publisher, gave a keynote address on education this morning. Maker-in-Chief Sherry Huss writes:

Dale just finished his keynote at the Education Conference at CES. He rocked the room, inspired the attendees, talked about kits, education, and the maker movement. Way to go Dale!

The keynote was getting a lot of tweeting. Here are some highlights (from Twitter member David Kleeman):

  • Playing @ #ces #kap2012 – 1st shot is elements of an LED “throwy.” Second shot…I win! @make
  • @dalepd @make magazine @ #ces #kap2012 – “making creates evidence of learning”
  • @dalepd @make magazine showed this video @ #ces #kap2012 of kids inventing – stay for the pinball machine!
  • @dalepd @make #ces #kap2012 – Piaget “to understand is to invent.” Don’t throw info at kids; help them identify and apply elements and tools
  • Maker brilliance – covered an old Volvo in singing fish and lobsters @dalepd @make #ces #kap2012
  • @dalepd @make magazine @ #ces #kap2012 – DIY make events are the fairs of today – replace pie with other projects
  • Dale Dougherty @dalepd of @Make Magazine at #ces #kap2012 – we can be overwhelmed by change or see ourselves at the center as drivers
