What do you get when you combine LED throwies with a gaucho snaring weapon? This clever contraption, dubbed the E-bola by creator Tetranitrate on instructables. Using the LEDs and batteries as weights, this throwing weapon lets your prey know you’re coming. Oh, and also makes for some nice long-exposure photography. This is probably dangerous to use inside and around others, so be careful (and never use it on your smaller siblings).

I am from Uruguay, the center of the old gaucho culture, called the “desert†(a very green one) inhabited by Indians and outlaw gauchos that then limited with Spaniards un Argentina, Jesuits in Paraguay and Portuguese in Brazil. Indians were exterminated after independence, or assimilated. Now, there are studies in family histories and DNA, searching for that legacy. And reading that, I learned that the boleadoras were more than something to catch ostrich’s feet, and then enemies horses. They were lethal hitting heads in battle, and more effective than the old “trabuco†guns. But, and this is the real revelation (for me): of foot, Indians kept one stone ball between the big toe and the next, and whirled vertically the other two. If you approached by the left, you would feel a stone in your skull from the right. Man down. A real martial art.
