MAKE pal I-Wei Huang has fallen big-time for mini-humanoid robots. We can only hope he won’t give up his steam obsession in the process. For ROBOTS-DREAMS, I-Wei has written an in-depth review of the A-621 GENEX Suit kit, a Polycarbonate skin/”body armor” for the Kondo KHR-2HV. Ever the kit basher, I-Wei added LED eyes to his bot by busting into a two-bulb LED keychain flashlight he had.

PS: And is it just me or are those cotter pin nipples a tad… kinky?

that suit looks tough as nails. digging the hood pins on the chest plate, looks like the pins they put on really fast cars

    Saturn 3?

Long as it doesn’t rip my face off, it’s pretty cool.

I love reading about robotics, although I freely admit I’ve never built one. One thing I’v ealways wondered: Is it really that hard to build a completely enclosed robot body?

All the hobby robots I’ve seen always have wires sticking out and components exposed. While I know that it’s cool just to get your robot working, part of the pupose is for these things to work in the real world. And the real world is not kind to exposed wires and components.

Even this cool-looking robot armour leaves the servos and servo wires exposed.
