Light-Up Minecraft Wall Hanging Is the Picture of Pixelated Coziness

Minecraft is a fascinating word of infinite possibilities. Every time you start a new world, you are dropped into a randomly-generated map that, if scaled, would be 8 times larger than the surface of this planet! That’s a lot of space to explore — both above ground and deep below it. You begin with absolutely nothing.

The basic message of Minecraft is: Want to create things? We got ya covered.

Gamers can explore, build, even fly. Unfortunately, sometimes the happy gamer must leave the blissful embrace of the servers and re-enter the physical world. Thankfully you can now create the pixelated euphoria of Minecraft and make it a tangible part of your real world quarters with this exciting project.

The world of Minecraft is comprised of one meter cubes. As an homage to this universe, Nathan Pryor made this lamp one meter wide by one meter high. The end result is brilliant.

There are 16×16 pixels on each block, so on one meter square each would be 6.25 cm. This project would be easy to scale if you wanted a smaller version of the lamp. It is lit from the back with RGB LEDs, and the colors can be changed via remote control allowing you to have any “ore” of your choosing.

You can find more pictures and information on the build in this Imgur gallery.

For those reading who are unfamilliar with Minecraft, it is:

“a sandbox independent video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson and later developed and published by the Swedish company Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival modes where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, and an adventure mode where players play custom maps created by other players. The PC version of the game is renowned for its third-party mods, which add various new items, characters, and quests to the game.” – From Wikipedia
