Over the weekend, we pulled out our holiday decorations. I managed to get the tree up (not decorated, mind you) but still have boxes and bins of stuff all around me right now. I lost steam quickly and needed some decoration inspiration stat. I was glad to see that my recorded episode of Secrets of a Stylist was one that involved sprucing up a living and dining room for the holidays. As usual, Emily’s style was awesome. I found myself loving pretty much every single thing she did in the episode and especially appreciated that she and Orlando and the team had a full-on crafting session to make many of the things that decorated the room for Christmas. They made ornaments and whimsical trees out of discarded book and atlas pages, cute yarn ball ornaments and fun styrofoam ball garlands. My favorite thing they made, though, was this adorable set of snowmen out of old globes from flea markets and thrift stores. I have a globe fetish, but sometimes they aren’t in great condition or there isn’t a great way to display them. I could see keeping this fun little family out all year ’round. Emily’s given a brief how-to for the globe snowmen over on her blog, and promises to cover many of the other handmade items from the show in the coming weeks. Hopefully the episode will be online soon – it’s one you won’t want to miss. There have been very few, if any, decor shows that I’ve watched and wanted to replicate almost every single thing I’ve seen, but this is one of those for sure.
