Phil Torrone of Adafruit sent me a bag full of maker skill patches. When my 9-year-old daughter came home from school today, her eyes popped out like a Tex Avery wolf. I told her she could have them all, but she has to earn them! I’ll work with her to help her earn the LED patch first.

You might have to teach her to make bread or yogurt to earn the beer brewing badge. Unfortunately depending on where you live, having her showoff the brewmaster badge might cause issues.
How could a mug of root beer ’cause issues’?
That is a badge for brewing beer.
It’s just a general brewing badge. It could be award to anything from ale to soy sauce.
And as I suggested, bread or yogurt. Still experimentation with yeast. Lets get Phil to turn this badge into a little yeast.
Why can’t children brew beer? Why can’t children even *drink* beer, at home and with their parents?
OMG is that a yellow ‘get your fingers cut off’ badge? Cause I qualify.
Only if you did it with a waterjet, the usual table saw method won’t count…
So I qualify for 22 of these, with two more soon, not deliberate or anything, just happened. Guess that means I’m a true geek, but I’m taking Simon Pegg’s view on that….
I was looking at the Adafruit site itself and rather like the solar power(ed) badge! Did you happen to get one of those too?
Aah! I am a black belt in Dumpster Diving!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Adafruit, but when it comes to patches I’ve always been more of a fan of the Order of the Science Scouts: http://www.scq.ubc.ca/sciencescouts/ . I’ve always enjoyed the wry sense of humor in the individual requirements for earning each badge.
