The 10th annual Maker Faire Bay Area was last month. This weekend inaugurates the first National Maker Faire in Washington, D.C. And today we announce the Call for Makers for the 6th annual World Maker Faire New York, taking place September 26 and 27 at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NYC. For the U.S.’s largest city that is still very much celebrating its place as a World’s Fair festival site, one can only wonder what this year’s World Maker Faire will bring. Of course, that means you, Makers!
Last year saw many incredible projects, presentations, and moments, from master craftsman Jimmy Diresta working his magic on a bandsaw to finally seeing New York native Dean Kamen give a talk on Investing in Today for a Secure Tomorrow. Makers wore interactive cosplay outfits, rode 51 foot long kinetic sculptures resembling crocodiles, exploded cereal, and serenaded flying dragon drones, among hundreds more projects.
So apply now to participate in this year’s Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth in New York City! The first round of applications close Sunday, July 12 at 11:59pm PDT; the second round of applications close one week later on Sunday, July 19 at 11:59pm PDT. Basically, the first round applicants will receive a higher priority of acceptance — and space is limited.
Applications are broken down into several different types, depending on your status: Maker Exhibit, Performance, Presentation, Startup Company, or Sponsor.
Once you begin an application you can always click the “Save and Continue Later” link at the bottom of the page if you need to pause, locate an appropriate link or photo, or otherwise gather additional information for your entry form. When you click “Save and Continue Later” you will be given a “token” link; copy this link and save it, as you will need it to return to your application in progress. As always, if you experience problems with the form or have any questions, you can email makers@makerfaire.com.
We look forward to seeing what you plan to bring to New York City in late September for the 6th annual World Maker Faire!
