Rockets, Flames, and fun: MAKE’s International Maker Meetup Aug. 1

MAKE Volume 35 is on newsstands and is loaded with fun, flashy projects! From Tesla coils to DIY sugar rockets, there’s something for every maker who loves flames, flash, and big bangs!Screen Shot 2013-07-24 at 4.13.13 PM

To celebrate the release of this new issue, we’ll be hosting an international maker meetup at 6pm PDT Aug. 1. We invite makers and makerspaces to join in the fun for a live hangout on Google+ and to share their electrifying creations.

This time, we’ll be broadcasting from two venues as MAKE editors take you inside the pages of this explosive issue! Meet Jon Sarriugarte and his family (featured on the cover) at their studio in Oakland, Calif. where they built the amazing Serpent Twins, 50 foot kinetic mobile sculptures that breathe fire. We’ll also visit with Chimera Arts, a new makerspace in MAKE’s hometown of Sebastopol, Calif. where we’ll actually host the meetup hangout. Stop by in person or virtually and meet the team creating this amazing new space for makers.

Dan Spangler, MAKE Lab fabricator, will take us through the build of the sugar rocket and we’ll visit the author of the Tesla coil story with MAKE editor Sean Ragan in Austin, Texas.

And that’s not all. Enter our drawing to win one of five Ultimate Microcontroller Packs ($150 value) to be given away during the meetup!

See you Aug. 1  at 6pm PDT for a bang-up time! Please click here to RSVP.
