Rocky Mountain Makerspace Conference Launches This July

Makerspace leaders in Colorado and neighboring states have come together to create the Rocky Mountain Makerspace Conference to have fun, share war stories and experiences, and learn from each other.

We will start with a tour and BBQ at the highly successful TinkerMill space, then makerspace leaders will discuss an inter-makerspace ambassador program, new projects with IoT and RFID in their spaces, youth programs, and membership practices. Libraries and educators joined in to create times for new and seasoned maker educators to learn about the challenges and rewards of creating makerspaces in schools and libraries. This conference has set presentations mixed with “unconference” periods where participants can gather around any topic of interest.

While the highlight of the weekend will be the time spent learning from each other, we are also pleased to have special presentations/session including:

  • Phil McKinney, President and CEO of CableLabs. In this capacity he heads the research and development organization responsible for the global cable industry’s technology and innovation roadmap.
  • A tour of TinkerMill – followed by beer and barbeque
  • Sessions dedicated to Youth Maker Programs with a hands-on demonstration from Share Fair Nation
  • A tour and Sunday brunch with SparkFun Electronics
  • Ashley Kazyaka of the Colorado State Library Maker Program

Thanks to the support of the Longmont Museum, Share Fair Nation, and the Colorado Maker Hub, the conference is offered at just $20 for a 2 day pass, tickets here. Shenanigans are encouraged! More information at the Colorado Maker Hub.
