Tomorrow, April 5, is the 2nd annual Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire. Held from 10am to 7pm at the Learning Village in Downtown Las Vegas, the event will feature over 70 makers and their exciting projects. You can view highlighted projects on the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire website (and get your advance tickets for only $8!) and I’ve posted a few of my favorites below.

The Secret-Knock Gumball machine and its creator, Steve Hoefer will be at the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire with the special transparent version that lets the crowd see its inner workings. Steve has published the instructions, so you can see it at the event, and then go home to build your own!

You can’t have a Maker Faire without a BIG Tesla coil! This coil, called Project Icarus, was designed & built by Jeff “Krux” Rosowski, who started Syn Shop, the Las Vegas hackerspace. SYN Shop members, including organizer Paweł Szymczykowski, are the driving force behind Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire.

I’m also excited to see the “Robot Army Starter Kit” project by Sarah Petkus and Mark Koch, who are also SYN Shop members. I saw a prototype of their delta robot at RobotsConf last year, then backed their successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year.

While at Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire, Candy & I will be speaking about The Maker Effect Foundation and our current research project, The Maker Personality & Skills Assessment. We hope to see you there!
