Instructables user Tall-drinks wanted to learn how to use the BLE Mini Bluetooth 4.0 Interface from Red Bear Labs so he modded a lamp to display the current weather outlook from OpenWeatherMapAPI. By stuffing an Arduino, the Bluetooth module, a servo, and a cardboard gobo inside the lamp shade, he was able to have his phone beam the proper servo position to the Arduino. The servo rotates the gobo so that the apropriate weather icon is displayed in the lamp shade.
Check out his write up if you want to build your own. And if you’re interested in trying out the Bluetooth module yourself, we’re delighted to carry it in the Maker Shed. [via Hack A Day]
