Miguel Valenzuela (creator of the PancakeBot) was playing around with a bipolar stepper motor, triggering each step in turn with his Arduino when he realized the motor was making cool noises when each step was selected. He wanted to amplify the sound so he put the motor housing directly on the pickup of his daughter’s electric guitar. You can hear the resulting sounds on Miguel’s SoundCloud.
