Wired’s how-to wiki gives us “Cake in a Mug,” perhaps the greatest thing to come to the microwave since peep jousting:
You’re working at home and your mind starts to wander to snack possibilities. There are probably some prepackaged, good-until-the-next-millennium baked items in your cabinet, but you’re in the mood for something warm from the oven. Something chocolate. However, your compulsion to work is just strong enough to keep you from leaving the computer long enough to make something from scratch. Guess it’ll have to be another stale Twinkie after all.
A single-serving portion of cake. Baked in a microwave. In the mug I mixed it in. Just for me. Right now.
Hello future. You can keep the jetpack.

Wait, there’s no leavening?
@tess — the egg is the leavening.
My wife and tried this the other night, and it turned out terribly. It tasted like play-dough.
But, it was fun…
Hi
I’ve been doing this for 2 years and always turned out really nice.
But I think you use too much ingredients.
Here is my recipe:
1 egg
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoons of drinking chocolate powder
1 tablespoon of flour
Put the egg(well you can take off the shell :) )in a cup (yes, the one where you drink your milk at night or tea) and mix it quite energetic.Put the flour, the chocolate powder and the sugar and mix it to become one dark brown cream (all these steps take ~3min)
Then put the cup in the microwave at full power for exactely 1min…et voilá!Your Own Personal Chocolate Cake! :) If you do it right you’ll get a nice, rich, soft cake with a nice crisp top and in the bottom of the cup a melted chocolate cream to put your fingers on and remember when you were 10 years old.
Hope you like it!

I did something similar to this a whole lot when I younger, but with pancake batter instead. It works great, as long as you don’t miss the golden brownedness too much.
This looks really cool to make im going to tr y it
