I finally made one of these boxes (I had been sourcing the materials and Santa brought me the last of what I needed). I bought parts to make two and plan to have one right channel and the other left. There are some good tips on this guide. Thanks for putting it together and sharing it out.
I used a Liga Privada No. 9 cigar box to house it (you can find them on ebay or maybe your local cigar shop) and a 3.5″ driver.

Would be way cooler if you cut the whole directly over the Liga Lion as to completely remove it, THEN get a laser cut grill to replace it. Chrome Liga Lion = WIN!
I’m glad to see that someone else liked the cigar box cabinet idea. I originally chose a cigar box for several reasons:
1) they look cool
2) commonly available
3) easy to work with
4) rebellion against the complex and difficult cabinet I designed and fabricated for the Squelette chip amp several years ago.
I see the builder also used brass flat head screws and finish washers like the original build article. I found those at my great local hardware store long ago and had been waiting for the right application for them. Brass and wood look ‘right’ together.
