The first-of-its-kind PSoC Pioneer Challenge deadline has passed. No more entries are now allowed. But the contest isn’t over, and the makers who are participating need your help. One lucky maker (or team of makers) will receive $2,500 for travel to our special 10th anniversary Maker Faire Bay Area in mid-May and exhibit the winning project alongside Cypress Semiconductor.
Each of the projects entered in the contest had to use the new PSoC 4 BLE Pioneer Kit, a new IoT-focused developer kit manufactured by Cypress. There aren’t a lot of entries in this contest, but they are all really high caliber. And you will decide the final few projects that our judges will weigh in on. There’s one week to cast votes for your favorite project/s. You can cast one vote per project per day for as many projects as you wish through April 15.

MMT is the personal motion tracking device which you can attach to different parts of the body to track motions of each parts of your body. For example,

As many heart related problems can be diagnosed by looking at the ECG waveform, this device can be used to identify such problems at earliest and take the necessary action. It processes the raw ECG data and gives parameters like heart rate, P-R interval, S-T interval etc.

A home-made electric bike (evalbum.com #3965) project made from new, obsolete laptop lithium ion batteries, has a commercial dashboard called the Cycle Analyst, that displays the battery state of charge – amphours or watthours used since last charge, essentially how much ‘gas’ is left in the tank – as well as voltage, amps being used at the moment, bike speed and cumulative distance travelled on a charge.

We used the PSOC pioneer kit to make an LED-lighted sign for our company’s booth at a trade show. Our purpose in building this sign was to A) Save on costs by re-using old materials we had lying around,as we are a small business with limited budget and B) Design a beautiful and eye-catching sign that would go well with the rest of our custom-built trade show booth.

A guide dogs is a great assistant for blind people. We believe that new technologies can provide similar assistance. Our project, the Electronic Guide Dog, demonstrates how PSoC4 BLE kit can be used to help a blind person to avoid collisions with surrounding people in dark places, and how it can help him to find objects that are not near to him. We hope that the project will drag the attention to use such technology for impaired persons.

This is a project is a stair lighting control system made using two Cypress CY8CKIT-042-BLE PSoC kits along with a few LED lighting kits and some custom made controller boards. My lovely wife and I found some Sylvania Mosaic LED lighting kits with flexible light strips (Thanks Costco!) and she asked if it was possible to use this to light up our stairs while we are in the progress of remodelling. Challenge accepted!
