One of our favorite MAKE sayings is “Never buy what you can make, and never make what you can find.” Adhering to that logic, maker Steve Hobley was using a repurposed dining room table as a workbench, and it just wasn’t working — taking up more space that it was worth and lacking means of organization. So he looked at his scrap pile, started building depending on his needs, and shared his build notes with us in Make: Projects. Now his computer, monitor (attached with long bolts through a strip of poplar), 2 scopes, multimeters, soldering iron, and signal generator are all easy to find and within reach. His new workbench is pictured above, and his old workbench below.
