Since Valentine’s Day is drawing closer, I wanted to make a bandsaw box in the shape of a heart. The wood is a chunk of Paduck I purchased from Woodcraft, which is sold as a turning blank for a bowl. My bandsaw blades were both a little dull but I cut slow and consistent in order to get the cut that I needed.
Most of the work came in the form of sanding. I used a simple wood wax polish to brighten up the surface, and then I used a chip board to make the interior shape to wrap with the velvet. Next, I used small pieces of leather to create the friction needed for keeping the lid on. Happy Valentine’s Day!!
