In each episode of DiResta, artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty MoneyHammeredAgainst the GrainTrash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy creates a  round table to mount on a cast iron table base he found. Check out his method for cutting a circle. –Stett Holbrook

2- 1″‘ x10″ x8′ hemlock boards
10’ 3″ strip of 2″ steel
Wood glue

Circular saw
Bending jig
Drills and screw gun
Table saw
Chop saw

Jimmy’s Notes:
Many years ago I found this cast iron table base in the trash. This week I finally got around to making a top for it. I used some 1″ thick rough-cut cut hemlock from upstate New York. The one-inch edge would look wimpy so i used a 2″ thick steel strip 1/8″ thick to wrap the end. This will give it strength and a good strong look. The technique to cut the perfect circle is just one of many ways to make a perfect circle with a nice square edge. I have used this method  several times and it is always important to use a sharp blade.
