Jimmy’s Notes:
Many years ago I found this cast iron table base in the trash. This week I finally got around to making a top for it. I used some 1″ thick rough-cut cut hemlock from upstate New York. The one-inch edge would look wimpy so i used a 2″ thick steel strip 1/8″ thick to wrap the end. This will give it strength and a good strong look. The technique to cut the perfect circle is just one of many ways to make a perfect circle with a nice square edge. I have used this method  several times and it is always important to use a sharp blade.
