How-To: Geometric Wood Flooring

Mandi over at Vintage Revivals came up with a pretty rad solution to redoing the floor in her 1972 Bell Travel Trailer, affectionately known as The Nugget.

The floor section she was remodeling in her trailer is not a huge area, but she wanted it to be one of those show-stopping parts of the reno. Not satisfied with what was already available in stores, she got to thinking and came up with a simple triangle pattern that worked well for the material she was using– pine boards.

Outfitted with a very accurate miter saw, she got to work cutting lots of triangles.

Pictured above is a shot midway installation. I love this transformation from outdated geometric to modern geometric. The retro inspiration is still there, just reinvented with a different material and vision in mind.

It’s not likely that many of you out there have your very own trailer to renovate, but like Mandi suggests, this could look great as a table top or even a wall pattern.

That’s pretty cool! I wonder if something like this could be done with Penrose tiles?

  2. Peter Lewis says:

You can make that with Woodprix plans
