So says New Jersey tumblogger Wilbur Pan, who had this no-longer-cheap engineer’s square hand-engraved by artist Catharine Kennedy: “Before anyone asks, yes, this square does let me mark lines better after the engraving. I am sure of that.”
And if you like that, you’ll love Ms. Kennedy’s online gallery. Even (or perhaps especially) in this age of robot engraving and photoetching, old-fashioned hand-engraving is a real treat. Hand-engraved work has a sculptural quality that is very difficult (or perhaps impossible) to fake. [via nerdstink]
