This smart DIY thread spool holder tutorial from Professor Pincushion makes use of the interestingly-shaped wooden plaques that can be found at most crafting stores to create a unique tabletop thread-sorting solution for your sewing room or crafting space. And, while you certainly could make something similar with a plain square or rectangular piece of wood, I really like the subtle touch of elegance that the curved plaque brings to an otherwise utilitarian piece.
