It’s interesting that a tiny Polaroid photo magnet is so much more appealing to me than just a tiny photo magnet (without that extra wide strip of white along the bottom). Gordon McComb, who’s been dubbed “the father of hobby robotics,” has been building robots since the 1970s, and wrote the best-selling Robot Builders Bonanza (the new 4th edition is available). For MAKE Volume 27 Gordon wrote a how-to article called Teleclaw: Remote Robot Gripper, which is controlled with an ordinary TV remote.

I’m totally blown away by Daniel Kornrumpf’s embroidered portraits. The thread adds amazing texture and color to the faces; this one reminds me a little bit of Van Gogh’s choppy strokes.
