Katamari Damacy 2 oscillating fan hack

Boingboing has a really clever Katamari Damacy hack…“This Livejournaller connected an oscillating fan to his PS2’s joystick in order to have repeat the same movements over and over again without intervention, enabling him to collection one million roses in the video game We Love Katamari Damacy.” [via] Link.
Bicycle-powered blueberry winnower
Excellent tale from the “Make” – If the field wasn’t so remote, Waldo County residents would have been treated to an unusual sight in September: Blueberry rakers merrily pedaling old bicycles that powered even-older machines used to clean the fruit. Like many good ideas, Shana Hanson’s bicycle-powered blueberry winnowers had their roots in calamity… Hanson borrowed two bicycles that were already mounted on homemade wooden frames. She removed the tires from the back wheels, and covered the inside of the rims with duct tape. Then she attached drive belts that linked the wheels to pulleys on the winnowers. It was an instant success. Link.
Custom built effects pedals

Great site and custom bass pedals, Mike writes “Once I became disgusted with trying to find a great sounding distortion/fuzz pedal for bass guitar I decided that since i knew how to solder and basic circuitry I was going to build one instead. After many hours researching on internet sites and soldering away in my basement, I have come up with two pedals that I feel have a great vintage, yet over the top, tubey fuzz to them… without the loss of bass most distortion pedals give you. Then, much to my wife’s dismay, I began to build other pedals…” Thanks Star! Link.
Monster-themed wreath for Halloween – “It’s made with fun fur, ping pong balls, a paint pen, stuffing, and lots of hot glue (I didn’t feel like sewing) It’s basically just a wreath-shaped pillow with a ribbon on the back to hang it on the door.” [
Make Flickr photo pool member Laurence writes “Two years ago, I decided to make a Lego minifig (ie: “Lego man”) costume for Halloween. The hardest part was building the head. Here’s how I did it…”
