HOW TO make ball lighting…

Gmr1S The purpose of this experiment is to maintain a stable plasmoid ( a ball lightning ) at one atmosphere in a spherical glass vessel. This experiment uses a kind of electronic trigger which is the GMR v1.0 ( Graphite Microwave Resonator ) placed in a microwave oven working at 2.45 GHz. A magnetron is compact, has a light weight ( compared to a HV transformer with the same output power ) and it is a high power device. It is able to produce a great amount of power in a small volume most particularly in a plasmoid. Link.

Jim & Dianne’s Completely Unique Aquaria

Classic03
Neat site of Jim’s Mac Aquariums he built – I built my first MacQuarium in June, 1995. It was a 2 1/2 gallon acrylic tank fitted into a Mac 512kE case. It looked good but burst a seam a couple hours after filling. This was no suprise since I know A Great Truth – I never do anything right the first time. Unfortunately, no video of this tank was taken and so no pictures are available. I ripped it to shreds in a fit of disgust and went back to the drawing boards. Link.

Make a cross platform portable Firefox

Firefox-LogoHandy, I put mind on an iPod…Cross-platform Portable Firefox works by using John Haller’s excellent Portable Firefox 1.0.6 on the Windows side of things, and a little script I made on the Mac side of things. The script basically keeps two versions of all user profile files. The reason why is simple: as I am sure some of you have figured out, Windows Firefox profiles are not completely compatible with Mac Firefox, only certian files. Link.
