On June 14, sixspace will experience an invasion with RUBIKCUBISM – a logical exhibition by French artist Invader featuring mosaics, video installation, and both small and large-scale sculptures. For the past five years, Invader has conducted worldwide “invasions” with custom site-specific mosaic pieces based on the 1978 video game “Space Invaders” created by Toshiro Nishikado. GarageBand.com has a new podcast publishing feature- so I tried it out. It’s pretty easy, I recorded audio on my local system, uploaded it, then searched for a few songs that I thought were interesting (Nintendo sounding sounds / Bo Bice!) and added them to a “master playlist” from there I made a new podcast, with the playlist, set the order, typed some text and published. Another resource for cracking WEP. With Whoppix, a Prism 2.5 based card, Kismet and this tutorial you can see how easily your WEP could be compromised. The Flash movie is a step-by-step capture of the entire process, capturing 160mb or so of data to grab the WEP key and it has a beat you can dance to. Link.
Some video card hacking…Firingsquad is running a story on how to unlock all 16 pipelines in nVidia’s GeForce 6800. By default the card only ships with 12 pixel pipelines enabled, but with a tool and a few mouse clicks, the card can be unlocked to run with all 16 pipes. Performance improvements are seen everywhere, so it’s a pretty nice free upgrade. These cards are currently selling for $200 online, so a 16-pipe GeForce 6800 delivers great bang for the buck. This is going to be really interesting- the creator of BitTorrent just launched the BitTorrent search engine. This might be a great way to find all the music and films released in to the Creative Commons from one search engine. Link.
WikiTrivia is a clever site that uses Wiki entries as the trivia questions. The questions are a little hard, but when I’m waiting in line or have time to kill I’ve been playing on my phone a lot lately (View image)- it works great and I think I used to pay $ for the trivia games my carrier supplied- this is better and there are entries on the Wiki I’ve worked on so I might get at least one right. This isn’t a new project, but one I really like- a Hitachi TRK-8200HR + Fujitsu Stylistic 1200 Color Tablet PC running a MediaCar interface with custom skin in portrait mode to simulate a Boombox. The housing is an actual Boombox and it looks great. The Maker can also record radio right to the system too. Nicely done! Link.
