Making Hundreds of Unique Mini Maker Faire Posters With Processing

We needed a poster for the Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire this year, so I decided to use a Processing sketch to do the work for me. By using a generative program I could make each poster unique, within the design constraints of the event. The key is to use Processing’s PDF library to record a printable version of everything you’re drawing on the screen. When you’re done, you just bring the PDF to your local copy shop or fine art large format printer.

MAKE Volume 35 is on newsstands and is loaded with fun, flashy projects! From Tesla coils to DIY sugar rockets, there’s something for every maker who loves flames, flash, and big bangs! To celebrate the release of this new issue, we’ll be hosting an international maker meetup at 6pm PST Aug. 1.
