Citizen Astronaut and Space Hacker Workshop – Highlights
If I’m going to wake up at 6am and drive two hours to a workshop, I don’t think it’s too much to ask to see something mind-blowing. Which explains why I visited the Citizen Astronaut and Space Hacker Workshop at Hacker Dojo, right across the street from NASA Ames Research Center. Iif there’s any place to see something so amazing that it makes me angry not to have seen it before, it should be here. The day kicked off with a believable plan for getting ordinary citizens into space. That sounds about right.

May is Maker Month at The Crucible
May, in case you didn’t already know, is Maker Faire month. May 18-19—next weekend—is when it all happens. May is also Maker Month at The Crucible, an Oakland-based nonprofit arts education organization that fosters a collaboration of arts, industry, and community. If you’re fired up to start making things after Maker Faire, The Crucible is offering $30 off spring and summer classes. Through training in fine and industrial arts, The Crucible promotes creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design. The Crucible is also highly regarded for its innovative performances, particularly performances with fire!
Love and Rockets on a Road Trip to Maker Faire
In 2010, Natalie and her family made the 10 hour drive from San Diego the Maker Faire Bay Area. They were so excited by what they saw at the Faire that, during the long drive home, they decided they needed to be part of it next year, and that’s how the Love & Rockets Young Makers Club was born.
