DIY Podcast with GarageBand.com

GarageBand.com has a new podcast publishing feature- so I tried it out. It’s pretty easy, I recorded audio on my local system, uploaded it, then searched for a few songs that I thought were interesting (Nintendo sounding sounds / Bo Bice!) and added them to a “master playlist” from there I made a new podcast, with the playlist, set the order, typed some text and published. In about 5 minutes I made a radio show. Here it is, click download MP3 to listen. Link.

Game Boy Micro – Little Hackable Platform

Today Nintendo announced their super tiny 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep Game Boy Micro. While it’s not functionally different than the Game Boy SP, it’s a lot smaller and perhaps cheaper. I really like the Game Boy SP / Advance as a hackable platform, in issue 02 of MAKE (shipping now) we have an article about using GB’s as photo viewers, ebook readers, music players and home-brew code devices, the new micro will do all this and more- smaller. We like that. Link.

Radio Shack Robots

Radio Shack Robots

bot.jpgAbout a year ago I was at Radio Shack headquarters hanging out with my friend and Make pal Dave, while there I saw the now released Vex Robotic Kits in early development. The cool thing, amongst other cool things about these robotic kits is that they were specifically designed to be used in the FIRST national high-school science competition (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). We’ll try and do a review of these here right away. I’m so thrilled to see these. PC Magazine article here, along with photos here.

300 in 1 kit…

300in1.jpgOn page 184 of issue 01 in our toolbox section contributer Mister Jalopy has one of my favorite electronic kits featured. The Elenco 300 in 1 Electronic Project Lab. Usually, about 3 or 4 times a week I receive an email or IM from someone who wants to get started in electronics and I always point them towards this kit. Solderless breadboard, all the wires resistors and capacitors you’ll need to get started along with some fun projects. I found one here for $59.99 and they’re also at many Target stores. Here’s mine, I think there are some “extra” projects you can do with these too…
