This NFC Shield for Arduino (available in the Maker Shed) is a great way to experiment with NFC. What’s NFC you ask? It’s an extension of RFID with a purposefully decreased range, making it great for projects where security is a consideration.
It’s hard to find a good, reliable GPS module, which is why haven’t carried one. But when when we tested the Adafruit Ultimate GPS, we knew it was worthy enough to be in the Maker Shed!
Becky Stern is up to some really cool stuff over at Adafruit. This GPS Dog Collar (as shown on her adorable dog, Olive) uses a a GPS sensor, OLED display, and Adafruit’s Atmega32u4 Breakout Board to track your pet’s progress towards a goal distance.
It’s the little details I really like, here; especially the “socket header” on the back edge made by installing a regular 1×8 black brick in an unusual studs-down position.
