Neat- a story from a MAKE reader building the Marshmallow gun in issue 02– We went to the Ace Hardware store to get the parts…when we got to the counter the clerk said ‘looks like a lot of fun here.’ Spencer sort of acted out putting a marshmellow in a tube and shooting it…she got it. “Ah, you read Make magazine?” She not only reads Make, but had got the second issue before me…and wanted the store to carry it. We at MAKE promise never to use print versions of “pop unders” ads also called “shadow ads”. What are they? Watermark logos and ads under news, stock listings, weather and all sorts of content that usually doesn’t have ads inside them. We prefer the “They Live” style of advertising where you see MAKE on billboards when you build and wear special glasses. [via] Link.
MAKE was on the Canadian DIY show 94.9 CHRW- Audiozine wants to embody the spirit of DIY Culture – an attitude of independence and self-reliance. Often embraced by feminists, “doing-it-yourself” is also often politically motivated, although DIY-ers often just want to save money, or to be crafty. We talked about Summer fun. Link.

All episodes will be released free of charge, in a variety of formats (Theora, Xvid, WMV, H.264, PSP), wrapped in RSS (for vidcasting) and licensed under the Creative Commons. Link.
