The folks from Tested have released a practical guide to the most common Arduino boards, that also includes a cameo of the Make: Special Edition Arduino Uno. Projects demoed include a countdown timer, motorized turret, handheld pong gaming device, and Arduino Robot.
Over the last few months there have been a sudden rush of new micro-controller boards onto the market. A lot of that is down to Kickstarter and the appearance of a number slightly tweaked Arduino clones. A lot of them feature some sort of mesh networking, or other wireless capability. Andrew Dawes is teaching our new Training Camp: Introduction to Arduino. By day, Andy is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Pacific University, where he leads a group of undergraduate research students in several fields of physics: atom cooling and trapping, pattern-forming nonlinear optics, slow- and fast-light, and the application of optical systems to quantum information science (I’m sure he will translate that in the Camp). By night, he builds robots, teaches himself 3-D printing and is a proud father of three.
