We sent David Veloz, Jr., a Navy engineer at Port Hueneme, 29 copies of MAKE a few months back. He volunteers as a facilitator for a high school outreach program for students with an interest in science and engineering. Here’s his note back with a great pic of the students holding MAKE Volume 19.

Like myself, Dustin Wallace was a Transformers kid. Now that he’s all growed-up and has access to a water-jet cutter, the lucky duck, Dustin has started making pretty amazing transforming aluminum versions of his cherished childhood toys. These glueless interlocking table bases based on burr puzzles are from Bulgarian architect Petar Zaharinov. I discovered them while perusing last year’s entries to the Nob Yoshigahara Puzzle Design Competition.
