Josh Short is an artist interested in contemporary American mythologies and rituals. He works in sculpture and performance. Most recently his work focuses on low powered FM radio broadcasting, sound generation, and sculpture. He uses cast off materials (including sonic detritus) to inform his approach to Art.

Currently Josh is on The “Lucille Valentine” tour. From August 13 – December 31, 2016 his ongoing radio performance Bomb Shelter Radio hits the road for a five month tour of the United States, bringing his radio performance to various towns and cities across the country. The “Lucille Valentine” is a mobile radio station trailer built out of a 1978 Chevy LUV pickup. The 2016 tour will be dedicated to the victims of the bombings of Nagasaki, and the cultural implications of that act. Josh aims to create sonic landscapes by mixing and reorganizing sonic detritus of eras past with contemporary sounds. Through the ongoing/ traveling radio broadcast performance he aims to uncover new ways of understanding at our cultural history post WWII.
