In his presentation at the the Elephant & Castle Mini Maker Faire last month, Tim Hunkin, an illustrator, engineer, and cartoonist, talked about the homemade amusement arcade he has built over the past 15 years and his work at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. It’s a great talk. Have a look:

Tim Hunkin’s “Secret Life of Machines” was one of the most fantastic things I have ever seen and was tremendously influential to me. I consider him a major Maker Deity! If his early work hadn’t been (for all practical purposes,) pre-internet, we’d consider him as a mega-star.in the maker firmament.
One of my favourite series ever and I still watch them over and over now. They are all available free online too: http://archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3ASecret_Life_Of_Machines&sort=-publicdate
Well worth watching!

If Tim Hunkin is interested in adopting a son, I’m middle-aged, housebroken, and available.
Email me, Mr. Hunkin — or should I say, “Dad”?
