The Countdown to Maker Faire Bay Area is On!

Your Projects

Here at MAKE we have decided to transform the Your Comments column into Your Projects. We love hearing what you have to say, but also love seeing what you’re making! These projects from our readers come from the MAKE Google+ Community and beyond.

Maker Camp inspired 8 year old Anya to make this picture of the MAKE robot.

Matthew Gryczan shares his latest project:

For summertime Makers, here’s a photo of me with my waterscope — a gadget that makes it possible to clearly see a few feet under the water of a lake or pond as if you were viewing fish in an aquarium. The idea has been around for at least 100 years, but I’ve updated the concept with readily available and light plastic plumbing and handles that allow the user to manage it much more easily. The handles allow you to push down the end of the tube further into the water, counteracting the buoyancy of the tube itself, and users can put rocks or sand into the front portion as a counterweight for ease of use.

The kids at Build it Workshops have been following along with the Maker Camp projects. In this video they show their balloon-powered cars zooming around.

Jason Sipe explains his most recent project:

Last week, my son and I built this 8 foot flat-bottom fishing boat, for lakes and protected waterways. My son worked very hard on it, and put in approx. 45% of the work. We used two sheets of plywood–one 5/8″ (for bottom and seats) and one 1/2″ (for sides)
We took it for its maiden voyage last night in a small lake at Benson State Park in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge. It didn’t sink–in fact, it didn’t spring any leaks! We even got a few minutes fishing in.

Like these projects? Be sure to sound off in the comments! Your project could be in next week’s column.
