Make: Volume 48, our 2015 digital fabrication guide, is on its way to subscribers and newsstands everywhere. We here at Make: couldn’t be more excited. Last week at Make: Labs, we hosted a party to kick off this latest issue. The party played host to a panel featuring leaders from some of the top desktop fabrication companies, including Brook Drumm from Printrbot and Zach Kaplan from Inventables.

If you were on the east coast though, you may have felt like you missed out on the fun. Don’t worry, we are bringing the party east. The team at Ocean State Maker Mill in Rhode Island played a large part in this year’s issue, contributing reviews, articles, projects, and photos.

Now, we are giving you a chance to meet members of the testing team and check out some of this year’s top equipment. Ocean State Maker Mill will open doors this Friday, November 13th, from 7–11pm, and we hope you will join us to celebrate the launch of Make: 48.

While we won’t have big names in the industry like Drumm, Kaplan, Danielle Applestone, or Dan Shapiro, we will have Make: testing team members to answer questions, as well as demos of many of the top performing machines from this year’s testing. If you have any questions about how the team tests 3D printers or any of the specific models we tested this year, this is an excellent opportunity to come ask questions and learn more.

You can RSVP to this free event on Eventbrite.

Of course, if this wasn’t enough excitement for the team this week, Ocean State Maker Mill will also be hosting Jon Hirschtick, founder of OnShape and Solidworks, for our monthly 3DPPVD meeting. Hirschtick will be talking about OnShape’s goal of bringing professional modeling tools to everyone, and how these tools can be used along with 3D printers to make your ideas reality.
