One of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of all time is THEY LIVE, directed by John Carpenter. It stared wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper, a construction worker who finds a pair of glasses that reveals messages on signs along with creepy aliens walking among us bent on taking over. Looks like a company called SeeFree is making a pair of glasses that will “block” ads using USB based glasses. I emailed them to find out more (and to see if they’re for real, seems unlikely). If they are, I totally will insert those creepy THEY LIVE messages over all the blocked ads.

My dog has a pair of goggles, called “Doggles” that he wears when sticking his head out of the car. The strap portion of the goggles is good enough to attach a little video camera I have to record some dog video (photo). With this and the dog gps (photo) I’m getting closer to location based dog videography.

Most of the time I turn any old computer or cell phone in to some type project, but once and awhile some things just reach the end of their hackabilty and repurposing. If you have old electronics to recycle not worthy for Ebay or Craigslist, you can enter your zip code here and see where to recycle them or dispose of properly.

I was listening to the “Off the Wall” radio show and it seems like there’s a lot of snow in the Northeast area. If I were out there, I’d use these guides to make an Igloo. If you make any cool snow humanoids or other creations of that nature post up in the Make photo pool.

The latest Edmund’s Scientifics catalog hit my mail box today and there was something that I was drawn to (pun intended). Liquid Magic Wall Magnetic Paint. It’s Acrylic Latex magnetic receptive paint, lead free and I think I’m going to get some. There’s some fun experiments to be had here for sure. I was a fan of the chalkboard paint, but they stopped selling it- but here’s how to make your own chalkboard paint, seems like the secret ingredient is powder tile grout. If you’ve used the magnetic paint, post up if was good/bad- tried to find Sarah Connor, etc…

Turns out the group who collects PEZ dispensers are called PEZheads, and they just had a convention in Wisconsin. On that note, there seems to be an outbreak of PEZ based USB projects lately, I’ve seen lots of Star Wars USB drives, and I try to keep up with this fellow’s effort to make a real PEZ-company approved PEZ MP3 player. He also has some other new creations which are for sale. Jeez, how could PEZ not just go for this. Maybe he should make a kit that just fits into any PEZ, and then sell those how-to / mod style….
