Helium balloon movies…
On a warm summerday, with 50 euro worth of helium in three balloons…aerial photography using digital cameras. The setup was relatively simpel: A 3.1 megapixel camera, hanging from three balloons (50-70cm). Total weight of the setup was somewhere around 450 gram, the balloons had a pull of about double that. Two threads of 100 meters connected the ballons to us, so that we could get the camera to land again [via] Link.
Build Your Own Render Farm
The idea of coaxing multiple machines to gang up on one graphics-processing job is old; but the feasibility of configuring such a system on a shoestring budget is rather new. With open-source solutions proliferating on the Web and businesses kicking decent PCs to the curb like so many red-headed stepchildren, money’s no longer an obstacle. Only one question remains, really: Are you a big enough geek to put it all together? Link.
HOW TO – Fuji FinePix 2300 IR modification
A while back I saw someone had taken a webcam and changed it over to an InfraRed (IR) webcam. I had thought about doing that before but never did because I saw all these new webcams that had the IR LEDs on the camera and made it an IR webcam. Even still I went ahead and modified my webcam any ways to practice and see how easy it is. I had this digital camera I picked up for $70 a few years back. It is a Fuji FinePix 2300. My goal was to turn this into a Digital IR Camera without having to use expensive filters which range from $70 and up. [via] Here’s how he did it- Link. Also- HOW TO for the Nikon D70.
How To Transfer Windows XP Activation Information…
Nice tip. Users who reformat their hard drive and perform a clean installation of the operating system will find that they need to reactivate the product. But, as long as the new installation is on the same system and there won’t be any hardware changes it is possible to transfer the existing product activation and skip having to go through the product activation process again. Follow the steps below to save the activation status information and restore it once your system is rebuilt Link.

HOW TO run Windows and Linux on the Sony PSP
I need to try this, but it looks like this is the real thing…run Windows 95 and Linux on the PSP. I’ve done it by porting the excellent open source x86 emulator Bochs. Windows 95 actually runs quite well but don’t expect it to be a speed demon. It takes about 10 minutes to boot but afterwards it’s pretty usable. I was able to do things like: open “My computer” and browse the virtual hard drive, complete a whole game of Minesweeper and run various other applications. Now you too can get your Minesweeper fix on the go :) [via] Link.
