I’ve got to build one of these. I usually leave out gobs of food in a couple of bowls expecting my cat to exercise his free will, but this seems like so much more fun. It’s like some perverse Internet-connected feline vending machine, but instead of some elaborate scheme involving payment gateways and QR codes, it relies on toxoplasmosis-induced mind control. This ad shows tech-savvy Nokia owners modding their phones, adding them to robots, and using them to control blinkenlights displays. Not sure if the N8 offers any concrete benefits for this sort of use, but it’s nice to see the maker culture reflected in a mainstream ad.
Hobbyists looking for an official LEGO app to control their project are in luck. LEGO just announced their official NXT control app for the Android operating system. Called MINDroid, the app is available from the Android Market and will allow you to communicate with your creation over BlueTooth from your Android handset.
