An-Magritt created these diamonds from a 3D printable paper templates pattern created by Kate from Mini Eco. You could add them atop a gift this holiday or to your tree. I would make a dozen diamonds and suspend them from an embroidery hoop to create a hanging installation. That’s just me.
The folks over at Defense Distributed, the home of the Wiki Weapon Project, have successfully fired an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle with a 3D-printed lower receiver. They were able to fire off only six rounds before the part failed, but some would consider that a pretty decent outcome considering it’s composed of printed plastic. Now, the entire gun is not printed–just the lower receiver (the regulated part), but it’s a good first step. Regardless of you stance on gun control (or conceptual lack thereof), this project is worth keeping an eye on.
I love the modern aesthetic that Curbly brings to the table and I especially am loving the creations of Capree Kimball these days. She is KILLING the modern design game right now with these Modern Christmas Trees as the Pièce de résistance this holiday season. Get these in my house STAT!
Morgan Hungerford and her team of creators, Nilay Lawson, Eric Loften, and Kate Green just put out issue 7 of the aesthetically-riveting Panda Head Magazine. The latest issue is their biggest endeavor yet with 70 contributors, a commune-theme, and the perfectly lovely/creepy cherry on top is the Panda cult camping film that may or may not include chanting the Golden Girls theme song. Fest your eyes and ears on the latest issue right here, and I just dare you not to put on mocassins and sit by a campfire upon it’s completion.
Artist Pavel Sinev created these whimsical sculptures of shoes from power cables and zip ties.
Designer Imogen Hedges has built a contraption that unravels sweaters and then winds the yarn back into a skein.
