Max did a great guide on converting a cpu cooler into a graphics card cooler. Produced better results than expensive graphics coolers even though its lighter and cheaper. Test results available. [via] Link.

This is my installation of a squeezebox wireless networked mp3 player into my bathroom. It’s not an unusual desire, lot’s of people like a tune to go with their ablutions and contemplative bathrooming moments. Some people suggested extension cables and mini boom boxes, shower radios (with itrips) and running lengths of cable from my pc.. these all had various disadvantages and drawbacks, batteries, quality, cable routes etc. Nice write up! We’ve covered a lot of the oil cooled PCs, and here’s another- cooled with Sunflower oil. What we did was take some unused hardware, lying around, built an acrylic case put the hardware in and filled it with sunflower oil… lots of oil ;) Then powered the machine up and it actually didn’t fry (did someone say french fries?), instead it worked perfectly fine and in some terms a lot better then when it was air cooled. We had a lot of case mod projects on MAKE today–this last one completes me. It’s a reverse case mod, turning a huge old PC case in to something else: in this project, it’s a bookcase. [via] Link.

Gerry Duprey has created a project that allows precise computer control of up to 13 RGB LEDs. The controllers can be strung together for control over hundreds of LEDs.
