If, like me, you downright REFUSE to leave the world of Downton behind, then you will love animator Daisy Edward’s t-shirt designs on Red Bubble. Daisy creates the illustration herself and then through Red Bubble, they become t-shirts for us to wear dreaming of Downton. She also has a hilarious New Girl tee, but my heart belongs with the Granthams and Crawleys.

Regardless whether it’s an email exchange, Skype call, or an in-person meeting, I always make sure to ask them for one piece of advice they would give a wannabe maker. More often than not, the response is some derivative of: just get started. Make that first mistake, pick up that tool, or go out and get your hands dirty. I agree with all of that, but I want to offer another piece of advice: start drawing.

Meagan’s Panama sketchbook

Meagan’s Panama sketchbook

Meagan was recently on an extended stay in Panama. Before leaving she made a small sketchbook which she then filled with a visual travelogue. On returning, she scanned the pages of the sketchbook and posted them for all to see. The book tells a great story of rural life far off the grid and the people she lived with. Some of the pages are cut to the contour of the images, which then show layering of the three dimensional spaces in the picture.
